Blogs Will Not Replace the Mainstream Media

Briefly stated:

In short, blogs are a pretty good substitute for an op-ed page. They are rarely good substitutes for news reporting.

They are also great sources of expertise, analysis and in depth focus on particular issues. Another excellent use is for aggregating a much wider range of sources, perspectives and stories than could ever be done in a single newspaper.
